Fuller Takes to the Famous Spa Circuit
After being to Spa a few times over the years and yet to drive the famous circuit I was so excited to finally get the opportunity to do so!
A real eye opener to what circuit has to offer! Really enjoyable day learning this awesome track which favours the brave which is right up my street. One or two little spins in the tricky conditions but soon dried up by the end of the day.
Judging by the times we set in practice a very strong qualifying was on the cards, firstly put a banker lap in, and then pressed on for a flying lap! Managed to put together a personal best sector 1-2 but was blocked into the last sector. Sadly we didn’t improve so we started the afternoon’s race from P10, a little disappointing as I felt there was a top 4 position there for the taking.
Starting P10 we got a very good start and great first lap! P6 by lap 2 but sadly on the exit of the first corner we suffered with car issues and had to retire. Managed to get back to the pits for the boys to take a look but had been laps several times before heading back out on track in last place.
P25, not the ideal starting position but had a few races this year starting from the back so was keen to clear the traffic straight away and get to the front of the pack and grab a decent result! Mega opening laps without making any contact by lap 4 I was P7. Court up the my Team mate with a mechanical problem, had waved me through down the start finish straight and given me room to pass was ease only to suddenly realise he hadn’t seen me and turned into the very tight Turn 1 hairpin and made contact! Front left steering damage put me out the race.
Disappointing end to another hard weekend. Really isn’t out year but despite that a very enjoyable weekend with lots of highs and lows. Roll on Brands Hatch GP!
